Moto E: Motorola’s BEST Entry Level Phone Yet

Display and Build:

The Moto E has a qHD screen (960x540 panel) measuring 4.3” diagonally and utilizes a LCD display protected by Gorilla glass 3. Viewing angles are decent and brightness is good in sunlight without washing out in quality. The dimensions are 124.8 x 64.8 x 12.3 mm (4.91 x 2.55 x 0.48 in) which is very compact, the phone feels sturdy and well-built for the price and it’s also not too heavy while tipping the balance at 142gms.

Internal Specifications and Operating System

The Moto E smartphone has a Dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 inside with 1GB RAM which is good enough for the price and is value for money. It has a proximity sensor and accelerometer. The phone has 4GB internal storage expandable via a micro SD slot and behind the back cover a 1980 mah battery is fit in. The Moto E has the latest iteration of Android (4.4.2 Kitkat upgradeable to 4.4.4) and Motorola has promised an update to the next Android version which is L, that should vastly improve battery life and performance. It has Digital TV (XT1025 model only) and 50GB of cloud storage provided by Google Drive.

Camera

The Moto-E has a 5MP camera which is unfortunately fixed focus, LED flash and it’s video calling capabilities are limited to 480p at 30fps. The phone however, lacks a secondary camera. After all for a phone of this budget, some compromises are expected.

Connectivity

The Moto E has Quad band GSM, GPRS, EDGE, Dual band 3G with HSPA, optional dual SIM support with dual standby, GPS, FM, Bluetooth v3.0, microUSB for charging and USB connections.

Moto E is the best phone in the entry level for those looking for quick updates, vanilla Android and loud speakers. The dual speakers really do the job well and overall it’s a well-built device that can take on the best in the low-end smartphones.
