5 Ways to Make Your Content Go Viral

You uploaded a new profile pic on FB or LinkedIn and if you don’t get a LIKE in next 15 mins[this is subjected to your networking capability], we get apprehensive and restless. If the same picture goes viral or appears in “most trending item” we would be more than happy. That’s the beauty of World Wide Web.

As an online store owner, if you get thousands of hit in an hour, a lot of consideration on social media then you would be on cloud nine, as you are getting free marketing with icing on the top, that hits are getting converted into trades.

Now wake up, the dream is perfect but how to achieve it and how to make an article go viral? And once achieved how to regularly accomplish it?

You need to understand some logistics, get into the details, experiment and then churn to get results i.e. more hits, turning your content viral!

There might be a list of website you visit daily morning or with evening tea? Why have you chosen them? May be because they are usually updated with the latest!! Or maybe they are offering a view point which in unique? So these are couple of points and further more to be narrated in the post which you need to take care and make the content viral from your site. So ready?

Talk about the flip side

The recent controversy of AIB knock out in Mumbai, and the article by Twinkle khanna in response of that went viral. Now, I saw an article which was also being liked and shared across social media, saying – Why the article of Twinkle Khanna went viral? So you see, a person was able to use the same name and was able to generate the content. Or another example, if people were mad about Xiamoi sale and were simply registering to see if they can get lucky and get a mobile phone, the article which went viral was – Why Xiaomi is not a good product to buy? Or if people are writing about CAT exams and preparation, write about the other option than CAT as not all people would get selected and they need to look for alternate options. It’s basically the psychological force which makes us believe the stuff we read. Being a Reiki practitioner I know the power of affirmations, ho saying positive things make you believe them and that’s exactly what happens, when you read the viral content on most of the sites you tend to get inclined and start believing it unless a counter view is not provided.

So to make your content viral, talk about the counter view and use the viral link if possible to get more traffic on your store.

A friendly theme

You are in process of building a relation. So, just for eg., in case you are planning to get married and would be meeting the guy in cafe Coffee Day, you look at his attire, his dressing sense, his shoes, the way he interacts with staff etc. That all is to relate and connect with the other person. The same applies to eCommerce as well.

The theme you chose is also a way of connecting to the customers. If females group of 30-50 is more active on your site, you need to create viral content on parenting, child care, and teenage problems. If on the other hand the target audience is males of age group 20-30, you should target marriage, career etc but in an interesting way.

The word interesting is important to note here, as the normal topics of parenting, child care would be so easy to find on web. So you need to give a twist to these, for eg what to say when your wife asks you – Am I looking fat? Or how to raise your child when you are a budget family?

Quest to find something new

This is another area, where we can take advantage of human behavior. We always look for “something new”. Exploring unknown territories, is quite the favorite job we humans have. So creating content on these lines could also make your content go viral. Couple of examples like in FB, what kind of heart are you? What kind of animal you are? Who would be your first child- a girl or a boy?

These kind of stuff only work because we all are inquisitive by nature. We need to know what is in store and what the results would say.

And even quizzes could make another great idea for content to go into viral mode. An interactive quiz which has hilarious result is worth sharing on social media. It’s a sure way to stand out in the market.

Raise your hand

Just because you presented an idea in the conference room and majority rejected it, doesn’t seems to be the reason you sideline it. You say it loud and let the world hear you, and if it is accepted worldwide, even the people who rejected you would bow in front of you. I’d like to site an incident of great legendary actor Mr Amitabh bachan , during his struggle days he was looking for a job and he went for an interview at Kolkata radio station , and was rejected as his voice was not soothing. And now you see him, his voice is admired and people love it. Did you ever think that Obama eating chewing gum would go viral? But it made news, so don’t shy away with the idea, just raise your hand.

Love what you are doing with the set aim

This is plain and simple, if you love something you are bound to get things done whole heartedly and things done are right! Posting original content and with love would surely take your content to next step. Have you ever compared the way you indulge in your hobby and the way you work in office. Office job, no matter what it is, people are dissatisfied and same people if given a work of their choice would be productive four times than the normal days. The reason for it is when your do things whole heartedly, you tend to ignore the surroundings and time, you stay focused and don’t leave until it’s done. How Flipkart is such a huge success or how Infosys is among the top ten industries in India, the owners had a clear vision and they loved what they did. And it was this love, that Narayana Murthy played his second innings in the company and retrieved the lost position of Infosys in the market.

In the last, no matter what you try, if the basic element is exciting and fascinating, it’s bound to go viral!!
